Whether you're a teenager, a soccer mom, or a grandparent, your health will always matter in life. I personally was a child nearing obesity on the BMI index, and I have seen first hand what not taking care of your body can do to you over the course of your life.
The importance of taking care of your health is not stressed enough in the world we live in. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study shows that nearly 40 percent of U.S. adults were subject to obesity as of the 2015-2016 calendar year. FORTY PERCENT?! Obesity rates are too high for it to be talked about so little. While issues like border patrol, gun control, and homelessness definitely do have an importance in our country, unhealthy lifestyles will kill more people than all 3 of those issues combined.
Lack of exercise, I believe, causes the Domino Effect in people's lives. Being inactive leads to unintended weight gain, which then leads to body image issues, then that leads to a plethora of possible mental health issues.
The US National Library of Medicine conducted a study on how depression and weight can go hand in hand. They did a small scale observational experiment on 280 men under the age of 45. 21% of these men showed signs of obesity and over 3% suffered from depression. This is on a extremely small scale, but when you put it to scale against our entire population. The number would be frighteningly high.
I truly believe that the gym or any sort of activity should be apart of someones weekly routine. Whether it be lifting weights or even a brisk walk 3 days out of the week, it is better than nothing. Diet is extremely important as well, but sometimes people have dietary issues because of the lifestyles they live. We live in such a fast paced and high stress society, unhealthy and quick food options help keep people afloat. I'm not saying that's necessarily more okay, but it is understandable. Being somewhat active will at the VERY least, counteract just a small bit of the horrible diets most people consume. In turn, leading to better health.
By simply just getting active in any shape or form a couple times a week, that'll lead to a more positive Domino Effect. In the sense that, your healthy choices is all fall together because you choose to be active. Getting active is quite literally life changing, because it can save you and your loved ones from sickly and difficult lifestyles.

Hi Ali, I cannot agree with you more. There are so many benefits of exercise it's silly to not do it. Especially when exercise can make such a big impact in peoples lives. I hope you and I both stay active in the future!
